Is a HIIT Class Right for Me?

High-intensity interval training (best known as HIIT) can seem daunting if you have never tried it. But what exactly is a HIIT workout? And is it right for me? These may be questions you are asking yourself.

According to the Athletics and Fitness Association of America™ (AFAA), "HIIT can enhance performance, change body composition, and support overall improvements in health and fitness." Sounds awesome, right?! HIIT is a form of plyometric training using quick, powerful movements that gets your heart rate up. The workout alternates between low- and high-intensity intervals that challenge your agility and speed.

In each class you'll burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing.
