MEET TANYA

ICF Professional Certified Wellness Coach

My name is Tanya Johnson, and I am a certified holistic health, fitness, and wellness coach who has dedicated her career of over 20 years to improve patient health outcomes within the health care industry. I currently work as a Lead Director for a large healthcare corporation. I graduated with a BS in Business Management.

In 2020, I became a Certified Wellness Coach through Goal Imagery Institute, an accredited International Coach Federation (ICF) program. In 2023, I furthered my passion for holistic wellness by becoming a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Wellness Coach.

I hold a Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Certification and focus efforts on strength and dance classes.

LIFE is a journey of lessons and experiences. My story may sound familiar to some, foreign to others, but unique to ME. We all have a story as we learn at an early age how to look, feel, act, eat, and many other behavioral lessons that make us who we are today from our adult teachers/mentors to television personalities. We then take those lessons learned and incorporate them into our daily lives as we enter adulthood, and many of us, will teach our children those same lessons with our own personal tweaks.

If you think about where you were as a child to where we are now, not only have we changed mentally, but the way our bodies function also change with what life throws at us. We might have been in our best shape with the fastest metabolism at one time in our lives. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a secret... our bodies change as we get older. We could have been overweight as a child but as an adult grew to become a healthy human being or we could have been the healthiest child and grew to being a bit overweight and having to overcome fitness obstacles.

The fact is that change happens. Life happens. I use the analogy of a runner. Think about running and training daily for an event or athletic sport. We might have ran 5 miles back then, but now we can barely run 1 mile. Our minds can sometimes go back that we should be able to run the 5 miles we once ran back in the day; but our bodies say otherwise. The fact is that if we don't use it, we lose it right? Staying healthy is a habit and lifestyle that we must work on daily. 

From early childhood, weight issues have always been a challenge – the typical rollercoaster many of us go through. In 2018, I embarked on my own personal fitness journey that would change my life. I was a Type 2 diabetic with hypertension issues. What I didn't expect through this process, was that this would be the beginning of my own personal fitness journey to learn about myself, change bad habits, and develop positive lifestyle changes.

With the help of amazing coaches, both mental and physical, I learned to own my decisions, create and maintain positive healthy habits, focus and go after my life passions, cope with grief, navigate through my fears of the unknown and life's uncertainties; remove the "mask" to become my authentic self; navigate through career changes, set boundaries for myself, and many other lifestyle changes that led to a better and balanced life for myself.

LIFE is not easy. When you think you've figured everything out, LIFE throws us a curveball. Growth can be uncomfortable as it is unfamiliar and new to us; however, if we keep pushing through it, it can lead into some amazing experiences.

 

Do we ever stop growing? The answer is "No", each day brings us new experiences and challenges.

 

The habits we learn and develop for ourselves make us stronger to deal with those daily challenges and to embrace the beautiful experiences we have with our families, vacations, work wins, or many others (they are our experiences to celebrate).

Using my expertise as a corporate executive and going through my own personal fitness journey; along with my professional fitness certifications, and working successfully with clients of all ages and backgrounds; my goal is to partner with you in your path to identify obstacles standing in your way of reaching your fitness, health & wellness goals. Together, we will develop new lessons and experiences to sustain a healthy lifestyle from now and into the future.
