Solutions to Workout Soreness

There's been a few nights that I lie in bed, just achy and sore, attempting not to move. I worked out too hard (or too much)! But now what?

FITMBS classes make sure to offer cool downs at the end of each workout, but sometimes that isn't enough. Since our bodies are each unique and different, it is important that we stay in tune with how our body feels. One size doesn't fit all when it comes to flexibility and strength, which also applies for our stretches and post-workout techniques.



To further extend your cool down after your FITMBS workout, one option is to use a foam roller. By rolling out your stiff muscles, it lengthens your muscles and replenishes them with fresh oxygen. Make sure you target the big muscles, such as your legs and glutes. Be careful and avoid your lower back and neck.






If you are looking for a natural alternative, essential oils and pain relief cream helps do the trick. FITMBS Coach Breanne likes to use Boho Beauty By T for all-natural CBD pain relief. Another natural technique, that you can find at a department store like Wal-Mart or Target, is epsom salt to use in your bath. The Mayo Clinic recommends adults use 2 cups of epsom salt per gallon of water, according to healthline.com. It is believed that the magnesium in the salt will reduce swelling and relieve aches, plus soothe your skin.

Listen to your body! Make it a priority to cool down and lengthen back out your muscles, so you won't be lying in bed miserably sore. But if you happen to be sore, these are a few great strategies to try to find relief. By taking the time to stretch and show your body extra care, your body will thank you and continue to strengthen.
