Meditation in Honor of Memorial Day

“And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.” - Lee Greenwood

This Memorial Day let's offer a moment of silence to honor and meditate on the sacrifice our fallen soldiers gave us. But that can honestly sound intimidating. How do I meditate? How do I show my appreciation and gratitude appropriately?

Here is a meditation for you this Memorial Day:

Find a quiet, peaceful spot. Remove any distractions (buzzing phone, barking dog, itchy socks). Sit in a comfortable position, such as yoga pose easy seat. Roll your shoulders down away from your ears. Lengthen your spine, lifting through the crown of your head. Close your eyes to focus inward.

Take a deep inhale in, filling your lungs, lifting your chest. Breathe in, whispering, Thank you to...

Exhale, feeling your chest lower, emptying your tank.

Breathe out, whispering, Our American soldiers....

Taking this time of peace, simply breathing your gratitude, and acknowledging American soldiers' ultimate sacrifice.

You may also say this prayer:

Heavenly Father, into whose keeping we entrust our loved ones, help us to look to You in our time of sorrow [on this Memorial Day], remembering the cloud of faithful witnesses with which we are surrounded. Grant that we may one day share in the joys of those who now rest in Your presence; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen. (LSB 316)

FITMBS™ wishes you and your family a safe and blessed Memorial Day holiday. We thank you for taking this time of intentionality to remember our fallen heroes.
